Wild Brown-headed parrots (Poicephalus cryptoxanthus) in Southern Africa
|
Photographs taken inside the Kruger National Park
In my travels and safari's, the Brown-headed parrot has always been a difficult bird to find. They blend in so well
with their natural habitat, very camouflaged!!! In the sixteen years of my safaris only twice have I been lucky
enough to photograph these birds.I have their calls identified but dont always see them as their calls quake
through the bush from afar usually. I once found them on two different locations all in one day!! I first found them
by their calls close by Pretoriuskop in Kruger park and then later the day at Berg-en Dal camp. The brown-head
in the pictures is eating seeds from a "Coral tree" (26 October 2006)
